25 Blog Building Tips
Blog building is fun, but can be stressful. There is some short cuts though to getting your blog well established and getting it to really take off. The best thing I would recommend to increasing RSS subscribers is to build links I mean high quality authority links, and start an adwords campaign up, but anyways just read on and we will get into all that.
- Host from your own domain, don’t host from someone else’s domain like blogspot, wordpress, or one of them off topic.
- Social Media buttons, put a lot of social media buttons at the bottom of your blog not a lot, but just the more popular ones such as Digg, Reddit, Delicious and etc.
- Community interest, show as much community interest as possible. Such as making friends, becoming part of the communities and etc. Thats mainly what its about when your building a blog or forum up.
- Unique Design, use a design of your own don’t go out and have the same look and feel as what every one else is doing. I see this time after time every one goes with this silly design so they can place little squares on there right side of there blog kind of just brought a smile to my face, but design something unique and one of a kind.
- Enable Track back features, make sure your track backs are enabled automatically so when you link out people will know your linking to them, and plus you might catch some pr from it. There is still a ton of blogs out there that disable the no follow attribute.
- Link Building campaigns thats right build links whether Google likes it or not buy all the links you want this would be the best short cut to getting your blog going.
- Adwords, use a ad words campaign with landing pages and drive traffic to your landing pages so you can increase that RSS subscriber list.
- Try to make post regularly like every day if you can around 5+ post a day specially on a newer blog. I’d say 5 a day would be pretty good, but don’t slack on your quality content make sure its quality content.
- Make sure you optimize your urls in your blog control panel and have the keywords displaying in the url.
- Interview other popular people in your field, this will show that your really into what you do.
- Do a keyword research which I probably should of brought this up earlier, but I didn’t. I generally try to go for more competitive keywords which that is just me, but long tails are good to you want them long phrases in there of course and make sure your other words have ability of rankings.
- Practice Link baiting, this is a great tactic to use to get links of course, but make sure you practice at it a lot. Don’t go crazy about it I use to go crazy about it and struggle to do link baits, you’ll get the hang of it after you keep practicing then after awhile your find new trails that will get them links.
- Reply to comments this is always good, I try whenever i get a comment on my blog I always reply to it. There will be a point that you get so busy that you cant reply to all comments, but if you can have someone else come in and help you.
- Practice writing which this is something I need to do, just make sure you have excellent A-1 grammar specially people that love to write and read they love to see excellent writing. It makes things a lot easier.
- Establish your self as an expert make sure people know your good at what you do. I see this all the time some people could be really good at what they do, or they are good at what they do, but they just don’t know how to market there self on it kind of funny cause generally if you ask me you could be the best at something, but if you don’t know how to promote your self then good luck.
- Notepad, you know I learned this from problogger.net carry a note pad around with you. if you see something that catches your mind and its applicable to blog about thats related to your niche write it down, and take notes.
- Directories, submit your website to quality web directories, and even new directories. Also make sure you submit to rss directories you can get link love from this, and plus when all these directories age and get older they’ll start to carry more value.
- Discuss hot topics such as topics that are being promote a lot, or just something that is going on a lot. For example the hot product this month is role x watches they have a special on them blog about it little things like this can really help because your offering credible information, and plus a lot of people will probably be searching for similar stuff like this on the web you wouldn’t want to blog about a hot rolex watch from 5 years ago no one would really care.
- Make sure your rss feeds, and email subscription icons are visible. Here at DeWitt’s we have our e-mail subscription feed on every page of our site :). Thats how much we promote it.
- Don’t ever delete comments if you get a nasty negative comment just let it flow, and let it create controversy who knows you might be able to use this as a leverage tool for your market.
- Speaking of leverage learn how to leverage your blog with social networks, and etc.
- If you happen to see a new member welcome them into your blog, and get them to stay. For example when someone comes to your house you make them feel welcomed right? Specially the hot girl you want to stay, you definitely make her feel welcomed, so treat them like the hot girl.
- Install a reply to comment feature mod for wordpress. You know I think this helps a lot because its more usable to the users, I mean they can reply to comments a lot easier with out all the visual problems of looking for there name and etc.
- Create a landing page fro your blog feed along with your picture. Then on the landing page offer some advise on who your, what you’ve learned, how your blog will help them, and just mainly anything that will get them to subscribe to your feed, or e-mail feed.
- Just give it some thought, and try numerous things sooner or later you’ll get everything down and have a high subscriber list that you never thought you’d have.
